Say the right thing workshop

Build confidence for the conversations that matter. Join us for an interactive workshop exploring Say the Right Thing: How to Talk About Identity, Diversity, and Justice by Kenji Yoshino and David Glasgow. Through guided discussion, practical scenarios, and reflection, participants will learn strategies for listening with curiosity, navigating disagreements, responding to bias, and repairing harm when conversations go wrong.

Designed for teachers, school administrators, and community and business leaders, this workshop offers tools for creating more respectful, inclusive schools, workplaces, and organizations.

Participants receive a copy of the book and develop an action plan for their professional practice.

Educators receive 2.5 SCECHs.

Robert “Bob” Behnke is a former Superintendent of Adrian Public Schools, an Adrian City Commissioner, and Executive Director of the Adrian Diversity Event Fund. His career in education includes serving as a teacher, principal, and superintendent, giving him a broad understanding of the relationships and conversations that shape schools and organizations.

Through the Adrian Diversity Event Fund, Bob brings people together through book studies, cultural programs, educational trips, and community conversations that explore identity, history, belonging, and justice. His work includes helping lead Adrian’s Pop-Up Holocaust Museum and creating opportunities to examine how lessons from history can inform our responses to prejudice today.

As a presenter, Bob connects these experiences with the practical strategies in Say the Right Thing, inviting participants to reflect on their own assumptions, listen across differences, and approach challenging conversations with greater confidence, curiosity, and care.
